PINSON, Ala. (BNc) — On a Friday evening, an audience gathered at the Pinson High School Fine Arts Center to hear reason and evidences regarding the fundamental point of contention among the  ‘religious’ world today: “The Bible is the exclusive standard of authority for Christian faith and practice.”

Robert Sungenis, well known author and president of Catholic Apologetics International, an organization dedicated to teaching and defending Roman Catholicism, was set to defend his belief in additional authoritative sources.

David Hester, evangelist with the Springville Road church, affirmed the Bible as the exclusive will of God to man.

DENVER, Colo. (BNc) – Jon Warnes believes you can learn 100 Bible verses in 100 days. Over 1,500 people who have signed up to his program agree with him.

Jon began today a 100-day program of Bible memorization, using an event page on Facebook. The program will go through Sept. 5.

Jon will be listing the verses on a weekly basis on the event page and putting verses from previous weeks on his weblog.

ABILENE, Tex. (BNc) – World Bible School widens its focus, working with local churches to evangelize the U.S., along with the rest of the world, through online courses.

Steve Smith, pulpit minister of the Baker Heights congregation, explained their involvement in the new program in the May 15 issue of the church bulletin:

We must remember that our disabilities do not change the nature of God. He is still good and loves us more than we realize. However, disease and disabilities exist in our world.

If following the New Testament pattern were a matter of option, there would need be no discussion whatsoever about following this model. But here is why it matters:

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are (1 Cor. 3:16-17).

Pretty much every preacher, writer, blogger, and journalist we know has weighed in on the reported death of Osama bin Laden.

I've seen plenty of balanced Christian remarks. I've read some hateful talk -- yes, even from professing Christians. The world has weighed in.

So what's the real bottom line?

As Mother’s Day approaches, we think of presents, flowers, and our good attitudes, like gratitude, to make the day a happy one for our mothers. And so we should.

Our plans for Mother’s Day ought to include meeting with the Christian family. We could do no better for mom than being with God’s church.

Jesus’ mother said, “Whatever he tells you, do it” (John 2:5 NET), for she knew that obedience to Jesus would bring benefit to all.

Not only does God know the future, he controls it! It is human for us to forget how little we control. We arrogantly make plans for the future, predicting achievements and activities as if we have any control over what will take place.

Instead of predicting the future, we might as well be catching the rain in our hats!

Here's a better idea. Make sure that you are in a right relationship with God ( Luke 13:1-5). Then, you won't need the weather forecast because you will be living with the weather enforcer!
